Pennies
for Patients: Our
National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring this fundraiser again this year to
raise money to help children with leukemia.
If you’d like to participate, place your contribution in the box that
came home and return it by Thursday, February 28th. This is a great opportunity for first graders
to practice counting coins as they put them in the box. We also have a class collection box if you
have misplaced the one that came home.
There are prizes for the classes that bring in the most.
Book
Reports: A fun
paper bag puppet book report project is coming home in Friday folders
tomorrow. These are due Monday, March 4th
and are another great opportunity to work on public speaking.
There is also a book report contest going on at school this
week for the Read Across America program.
The contest ends Monday, February 25th. A fiction and nonfiction book report form
will be in your child’s Friday folder if your child has time over the weekend
to read and fill one out that would be great, but I also understand if it is
too much. J As always there will be prizes for the
winning classes. Forms must be turned in
by Monday.
Imagination
Makers: This wonderful
theatrical group is returning to our school next Friday, March 1st. Their plays are always entertaining and there
is no cost to students. J
Vacation
to Mars: Our first grade play
will be Thursday, March 22nd at 6:30. We will begin practicing our songs next week!
Leader in
Me Night: Mark your calendars
and attend this important night on Wednesday April 3rd at 6:15. This is a chance to learn more about this
wonderful program that we have brought to our school to help us educate the
whole child as our mission statement says.
Thank you
to everyone who chaperoned on our museum field trip. This first grade tradition is always so much
fun, and I appreciate all you did to make it enjoyable for them!
