Thank you to everyone who came to our play Vacation on Mars. The first graders did a great job, and I was so proud of them. Hopefully you heard about our celebration/cast party on Thursday where the students enjoyed movies and snacks for a little while in the afternoon. They had really earned it with all the hard work and effort they put into doing their best on Wednesday night! Thank you for sending in sunglasses and putting together the outfits for the night, too. They looked great!
Despite many
rehearsals, a cast party and a snow day we still got in reading groups, math
and writing this week. We are continuing
to work to get to grade level and beyond in reading. I am so impressed with all the progress that
is being made. My class has also been
doing a great job in the mornings of choosing math and/or reading activities
and working independently. It is very
exciting to see them mature and take on more responsibility for their
learning! Keep reading at home!
We have had fun
working with fractions this week, and they will be bringing home some fraction
monsters that they made. See if they can
explain to you what the fractions on their monsters mean.
In writing we are
beginning our all about book. The
students are choosing a topic they know a lot about and are going to write a
book about it with a table of contents and information given in the forms of,
writing, pictures and diagrams. Ask them
what topic they have chosen for their All About book.
In science we will be finishing up our unit on
the Solar System. I have begun hearing
about some of the planet projects.
Remember they are due Tuesday, April 23rd!
