Week of November 26th

Reading:  I will begin mid-year reading assessments next week.  Please encourage your first graders to do their best reading for me.  Accuracy reading the words and retelling the story will be important.

Math:  We will be wrapping up Unit 4 next week, and they will take their test on Monday, December 12th

Science:  We continued our study of the body this week.  We have learned about our heart, lungs, and brains.  See if your first grader can tell you which one is the size of a grapefruit.

Phonics:  We learned some new terms.  Words like fill, puff, and miss have bonus letters – you get one sound from two letters.  Words like ball and fall have a glued sound “all”.  Your first grader should be familiar with these terms.
