New for the Week of Halloween

Halloween Party:  Thank you!  The Halloween Party was a huge success.  The kids really enjoyed the games and crafts.  It was fun to see some of them try to sneak in with their fangs on Thursday morning.  J

Canned Food Drive:  The canned food drive officially begins on Monday, but we have already had some donations so we are off to a good start.

Reading:  We continue to work on strategies to help with accuracy, fluency, and comprehension.  We have also been working on retells and sequencing story events.  Continue to read and practice these skills at home.  We will be doing our mid-year testing most likely before Christmas break.

Math:  We will be taking our Unit 3 test next week.  We started counting combinations of dimes, pennies, and nickels this week.  We also continue to work with frames and arrows and figuring out the rules in these problems.

Writing:  We are working on focusing our small moment stories and adding details as well as capitals at the beginning and periods at the end.  Ask your first grader to sing the song!

Social Studies:  We are finishing our unit on Egypt.  Our science unit on the human body is next.

Dates to Remember:  Thanksgiving Break:  November 21-25

Holiday cookie decorating and sing along:  December 21, 2:00
